Ambercroft Business Capital, a small-business funding broker in Lafayette, Indiana, lists free and public help for Tippecanoe County owners: the Small Business Development Center network, chamber and economic development organisations, and City of Lafayette resources. These organisations are independent of Ambercroft, and none of them is a lending partner.
Why free help comes before funding
A partner reviewing a request reads the business's numbers. An adviser can help put those numbers in order first: a cash-flow forecast, a clear use of funds, a realistic amount. Owners who arrive with that work done tend to have shorter, simpler conversations with partners, and sometimes discover they need less money, or a different kind, than they first thought.
Small Business Development Center
Small Business Development Centers are part of a national network funded through the U.S. Small Business Administration, offering advising to owners and would-be owners. Owners in the county often search for the Lafayette SBDC; the regional office that serves Tippecanoe County is the place to ask about business plans, financial projections and preparing for a lender.
Chamber and business organisations
Local chambers run networking events and member directories, and owners in the area frequently search for the Greater Lafayette Commerce business expo and the Lafayette, Indiana chamber of commerce. Membership is a choice for each business; it has no bearing on a funding request.
Economic development in Tippecanoe County, Indiana
Searches for Tippecanoe County economic development, Lafayette, Indiana economic development and West Lafayette economic development point to the public and non-profit bodies that work on business attraction, expansion and sites. They are useful when a business is expanding, relocating or looking for space.
City of Lafayette, Indiana
The City of Lafayette's official website is lafayette.in.gov (checked 2026-10-16). It is the starting point for city departments, including planning, permits and any local business requirements, which we do not summarize here.
Grants
Owners also search for Indiana and City of Lafayette small business grants. Ambercroft Business Capital does not offer or arrange grants; the advising and economic development organisations above are the right place to ask what exists.
Preparing for a no-cost advising appointment
- Bring the last twelve months of bank statements and any financial statements you have.
- Write down the purpose of the funding and a rough figure before you arrive.
- List current debts, including equipment payments, credit lines and any advances.
- Ask the adviser to check your cash-flow forecast against your actual deposits.
Advisers cannot approve funding any more than we can, but they can make the request you eventually send stronger and better sized.
Using local help and funding together
Advising and funding are not either-or. Many owners work through a plan with an adviser, then compare options in the six funding types, and come back to a partner with a request built on real numbers. A project paid over years, such as a build-out, usually lands on a business term loan. County figures are on our Lafayette, IN page, and the other guides are on the resources hub.
